We are seeking two dynamic and creative individuals to guide the design, implementation and operation of a project to digitize our collection of ancient Greek inscriptions (squeezes), and to make these resources available to the broader scholarly community through open access. The incumbent/s will be familiar with software design and experienced with digitization and imaging standards. The position will be for one year, with the potential for renewal. THESE ARE PART-TIME POSITIONS.
The ideal candidate/s will be responsible for performing quality control on all scanned images, oversee the collection and entry of metadata for all scanned images, liaise with project sponsors regarding open access and publishing rights, as well as prepare progress reports for the scanning project. The incumbent/s must be able to work with project team and sponsors to refine the platform for storing and presenting digitized material online, build productive relationships between IAS and other entities engaging in similar work, ensure IAS team is aware of and leveraging best practices to carry out the project and serve as a resource to other IAS digital humanities efforts. They must demonstrate the ability to design, implement and manage complex asset management or database systems and have prior experience in project management and/or supervision.
Candidate/s are required to have a Bachelor’s Degree in Classics or History (or a related discipline) with a Master’s Degree preferred, along with familiarity with D-Space, Fedora or other online content delivery systems, as well as with photography and imaging processing required. Familiarity of Greek is strongly preferred.
