Description

This position performs copy cataloging and original description of Special Collections monographic materials and verifies accuracy of OCLC cataloging records matching copy and checking name, series and classification number access points in the online catalog. The position creates original bibliographic description according to RDA cataloging rules; reviews original cataloging for the Special Collections cataloger, including monographic, electronic resources and manuscript collection titles before being added to the OCLC database and the Libraries online catalog; initially conducts problem resolution for Special Collections staff; performs database cleanup for change requests and materials returned from being circulated on-the-fly; completes other special projects when time is available or when necessity arises (e.g. theses and dissertation cleanup or recataloging collections); provides copy cataloging support to the Monographic Cataloging unit; catalogs Rush titles and Reference titles; and serves as backup for other copy catalogers.
