About DARTS & TLS
Data, Access, Research, & Teaching Services (DARTS) is responsible for an array of services and programs to meet the research, teaching, and learning needs of the University of Oregon community. DARTS encompasses four major areas: Teaching & Liaison Services (TLS) and Branch Operations, Access Services, Research & Learning Spaces, and the Department of Open Research (DOOR). Services provided include the circulation of collections, collection development and maintenance, information literacy instruction, data services, digital publishing, and public scholarship support. The division also oversees branch operations for five library facilities: Design Library, NE Portland Library, Price Science Commons & Research Library (PSC), Mathematics Library, and the Loyd and Dorothy Rippey Library at the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology. The mission of DARTS is to enhance student success, faculty research, and teaching by facilitating access to information resources and specialized research spaces, building collections, providing innovative engagement activities, delivering information, data, and digital literacy teaching and consultation, and programs that support the adoption of Open Educational Resources (OER) and provision of affordable course materials.

The Teaching and Liaison Services (TLS) and Branch Operations Department is located with the larger division of Data, Access, Research and Teaching Services (DARTS) of UO Libraries. Within TLS, librarians are assigned to academic areas to support the teaching and research needs of faculty and students. TLS is led by a director and three head librarians who supervise and guide three broad disciplinary liaison teams: Arts & Humanities, Social Sciences, and the Sciences. TLS librarians are actively engaged in collection development, teaching, outreach, and research support in their respective areas and collaborate often to support the academic needs of the UO community.

Position Summary

As the Psychology & Neuroscience Librarian, you will serve as the liaison to the departments of Psychology and Neuroscience.

As a member of the Science liaison team, you will work closely with other liaison librarians and faculty to support research and deliver impactful, course-integrated library instruction including the development of asynchronous learning tools in assigned areas. In addition, you will deliver online reference services, research skills workshops, and general information literacy instruction. In this position, you will also select and maintain digital and physical collections to support teaching and research in assigned discipline areas.

As the Psychology & Neuroscience librarian, you will collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders to keep department faculty informed of Libraries initiatives and services to accelerate their teaching and research endeavors. In this position, you will participate in the development and implementation of assessment initiatives aimed at improving services and collections in assigned areas. It is expected that you will create and use a variety of technologies and media for the advancement of library goals and objectives.

As a librarian you will participate in service to the University, UO Libraries, and community through work on committees, task-force groups, etc., and may participate in library and campus activities related to shared governance. Participation in appropriate professional development activities and organizations is expected to develop skills, stay current, and meet criteria for retention and promotion. You will contribute to the University and Libraries goals regarding equity and inclusion and perform other related duties as assigned or required to meet department and Libraries objectives.

This on-site position is based at the Eugene campus in the Price Science Commons and Research Library and reports to the Head of the Science Liaisons within the Department of Teaching & Liaison Services and Branch Operations.

The successful candidate is passionate about teaching (both in person and online), student success and is an enthusiastic promoter of library services. The successful candidate will have a background or interest in systematic reviews. In addition, they are invested in supporting a community of scholars from diverse backgrounds and enjoy working both collaboratively and independently.
