The Syracuse University Libraries invites applications from collaborative individuals to join our staff in the role of Physical Sciences Librarian. This position will be a fantastic opportunity for someone who is energized by building relationships with faculty, undergraduate, and graduate researchers in a dynamic university environment.
The Physical Sciences Librarian will serve as the liaison to the departments of Physics, Math, Chemistry, and Forensic Science, as well as related research centers and groups on campus. As one of sixteen liaison librarians in the Department of Research and Scholarship (DRS), the Physical Sciences Librarian will provide personalized research assistance by appointment, deliver subject-specific information literacy instruction, and perform subject-specific collection development. Additionally, the Librarian will be part of the Digital and Open Scholarship Team in DRS, which focuses on scholarly communication, open access, research data management, and new forms of scholarship and publishing. The Physical Sciences Librarian will contribute to this team through developing skills and specializing in aspects of Digital and Open scholarship relevant to STEM disciplines.
Qualifications
• MLS (ALA-accredited) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least one year of experience working in an academic library.
• Reference and instruction experience, preferably in an academic library environment.
• Demonstrated interest in physical science or other STEM-related disciplines.
• Demonstrated commitment to support and contribute to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment.
• Undergraduate degree in physics, chemistry, forensics, mathematics, or related disciplines.
• At least one year of serving patrons in STEM disciplines.
• Working knowledge of scholarly communication, data management, and other research-related services.

Starting salary range $60,500 - $63,499
