Description

The Music Cataloger and Metadata Technician is responsible for cataloging music resources in all formats (print, audio, digital) either by creating original bibliographic records, or by editing records found in the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC) database.
This includes comparing bibliographic information in music resources to cataloging copy found in the OCLC database, reviewing, checking, and correcting the descriptive information, subject headings, classification numbers, and tagging. This position also supplies additional access points when necessary, searching the appropriate authority files to determine correct form; performs authority work as needed for names, series and uniform titles; searches for copy in local as well as remote databases; and inputs changes.
