UO Libraries is seeking a Metadata Technician to join the Cataloging, Metadata, and Preservation Services unit of Collections and Discovery Services. This Library Technician 3 classified position is responsible for a broad set of assignments related to metadata for digital collections, including: providing descriptive metadata to conform to local and international standards; analyzing the standardized nomenclature of images, photographs, text documents, and other digital objects to ensure the correct form of name, places, and subjects and normalize entry for authority control; performing quality control for descriptive metadata; bulk uploading metadata and assets to Oregon Digital; performing data remediation; assisting with workflows and project documentation; and applying local guidelines for cataloging digital library collections. This position also supervises student employees, which includes: hiring, scheduling, monitoring, and terminating student employees; assigning student employees to projects and reviewing student work for quality control; and managing payroll within the parameters of the annual budget.
