Job Summary:

The Library Specialist creates excitement around the products and services offered by UTA Libraries while introducing our student body to experiential learning opportunities through innovative programming. Responsible for the libraries’ community engagement programs, the library specialist provides extraordinary customer service in person and virtually in support of the Community Engagement department.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Provide excellent customer service and deliver impactful experiential learning programs to engage our campus community. Balances many varied tasks and events throughout the planning and execution process. Demonstrate good judgment in making decisions and managing monthly themed experiential learning events and supplemental programs.

 

  • Supervise student event staff. Monitor student event planning progress, act as support during program development and facilitation, provide opportunities for mentorship and professional development.

 

  • Conduct outreach and develop experiential learning programs in collaboration with campus partners.

 

  • Promote library and departmental services to the campus community with targeted marketing and in-person campaigns.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School graduation or GED.
  • Two (2) years related experience.
  • Computer literate and technologically adept.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Proficiency in Windows Operating System and file management.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Two (2) years of event experience.
  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience with creative and maker’s technologies
  • Public services or customer service experience in an academic library or related environment
  • Experience promoting services to an external audience
  • Experience with needs assessment and program development and the ability to provide leadership in project management.
