The NAVCC Curator is a cross-sectional position that reports to the Head of Research Centers for the National Audio-Visual Conservation Center (NAVCC) at the Library of Congress and is stationed in Washington, D.C. The NAVCC’s audiovisual collections consist of recorded sounds and moving images fixed on a wide variety of disc, wire, magnetic audio/video tape, film, cylinder, and other physical formats. The Library also collects, processes and services audiovisual works that are born digital or that are fixed in a variety of digital formats. In addition to the AV media, the collection also consists of associated manuscript materials, catalogs, indices, scripts, contracts, agreements, and logs pertaining to or describing the collections, as well as still photos, promotional materials, and other ephemera associated with the audiovisual works.  The NAVCC Curator position serves as a designated interconnection and curatorial point of contact between NAVCC and other Library units (e.g. RCS Special Collection Directorate divisions), as well as between NAVCC staff in the research centers in DC and the curatorial sections at the Packard Campus. The Curator works collaboratively with NAVCC and other Library staff to design and provide content and context for physical and online exhibitions and web presentations, and to participate in public programs, symposia, and other presentations. The NAVCC Curator serves as a subject matter expert in their field and contributes to the engagement of patrons and visitors with the Library’s physical and digital spaces.

Applicants must have had progressively responsible experience and training sufficient in scope and quality to furnish them with an acceptable level of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position without more than normal supervision.
