Liaison Librarian for History (Boston College Libraries)

Boston College Libraries seeks a Liaison Librarian for History.  This person will bring an innovative, energetic and collaborative approach to their work as well as advanced subject knowledge and expertise to provide outstanding support to the Boston College History Department in all areas including collection development, digital scholarship and data, and teaching. Boston College Libraries subject liaisons work within a cohort organization managed and supported jointly by the Head of Collection Development, the Head of Digital Scholarship, and Head of Educational Initiatives, and as such, are expected to be fully engaged in each of these areas.
As the primary liaison to the History Department, this position supports their research and teaching needs by proactively managing library collections, offering outstanding research support, providing a cohesive library instruction program, and advising on digital scholarship and data-related initiatives.   This position consults with faculty on an ongoing basis formally and informally, regarding their evolving research and teaching support needs. Participates in faculty meetings, as necessary, colloquia, and task forces as an integrated resource for the department.
This position requires experience in selecting and managing scholarly materials, preferably in the area of History.  The Liaison Librarian must demonstrate awareness of sound selection practices, awareness of scholarly publishing issues, familiarity with the issues of format choice, and understanding of budgetary considerations for all types of materials. Demonstrated experience in using technology to advance research and teaching is required, as is strong understanding of the evolving digital scholarship trends and developments in higher education, in particular as it is applied to the field of History or humanities fields more generally.  The successful candidate must demonstrate evidence of a working style that combines initiative, collaboration, and leadership, and the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.

Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following titles and hiring ranges:

Senior Liaison Librarian for History: minimum 5 years of professional level experience. Hiring range: $61,400 - $76,750.

Liaison Librarian for History: minimum 1 year of professional. Hiring range: $55,600 - $69,500.
