Description

The Systems Administrator II is a member of the Libraries IT department, in the TS unit. As the key departmental resource for Apple, Windows, and Linux systems, they provide technical consultations on highly complex projects; provide expertise on all computing platform issues; and train TS colleagues in methods of resolving problems. This position reports to the IT Services Manager.  

They conduct specialized work in developing and supporting the Libraries’ staff and patron computing environments, including using endpoint management tools to configure devices; optimizing systems performance; analyzing systems usage and system load issues; troubleshooting issues as necessary; diagnosing systems problems; and identifying technical trends in problem identification and resolutions. The position is responsible for forecasting, planning, communicating, testing, and implementing system upgrades. 

This role is key in developing strategic solutions that improve operational performance and efficiency for computing environments and business technologies across the Libraries. This includes evaluating the current state of business technology resources; suggesting upgrades and enhancements to existing technologies; conducting cost/benefit and buy/build analyses; presenting findings and proposals to stakeholder groups; and ensuring that technology is appropriately configured, installed, and integrated with legacy solutions. They are responsible for gathering client needs, proposing innovative solutions, and ensuring that clients are satisfied with software and hardware products delivered. 

The Systems Administrator II will collaboratively develop, establish, and work within Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) processes and procedures to deliver exceptional IT services to the Libraries.
