Description

The Smithsonian Institution is the world’s largest museum, education, and research complex, with 21 museums and the National Zoo. This position is located in the Smithsonian American Women's History Museum (SAWHM). The incumbent provides IT system support and media production services with a focus on web development, content management and digital innovation projects.
In this position, you will:
- Support SAWHM’s web databases and content management systems and support technologies in order to assist SAWHM web and digital staff.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of public web sites and intranet content using HTML and CSS, Content Management Systems such as Drupal and WordPress, and software such as Adobe Creative Suite and web-based design software.
- Ensure design and formatting standards are met and helps diagnose problems.
- Create and manage digital media content and posts, including both text and media, using platforms such as web sites, social media, mobile applications, YouTube, and blogs. Use a variety of web analytics and reporting tools to extract and analyze data generated by online user activity.
- Contribute to the conversion and/or migration of existing web content from old to new sites, assist in determining purpose, goals, requirements, and scope for conversion and/or migration, and elements to be included, including user-contributed content and feedback.
- Assist with user support and training for digital projects.
- Maintain familiarity with software and hardware functionality in order to report and troubleshoot user problems.

- Skill in managing digital assets and working with content management systems such as HTML5, CSS, and Drupal.
- Knowledge of a wide range of web development tasks including, building, publishing on, and maintaining Drupal-based websites
- Ability to manage and publish digital media content, informed by Web analytics software applications
- Ability to support website migration activities, assisting supervisor in determining purpose, goals, requirements, and scope for conversion and/or migration, and elements to be included.
- Ability to support staff and users with digital projects and use of content management systems, web databases, HTML, CSS, and web analytics and reporting software.
