Description

The Head of the Resource Sharing Division (RSD) provides leadership for enhancing and evolving the vision, scope, operations, and user-centered services of the division across the Library. As part of this work, this role collaborates with the Associate University Librarian (AUL) for Digital Initiatives and Information Technology to shape the future direction of RSD for the university. This position directly manages, supervises, and coaches the two department heads in the division who supervise the career library staff (about 15 FTE) and student employees (5 FTE) in the division. The position is also responsible for managing, tracking, budgeting, and allocating the assigned L7 budget for the RSD division. The Division Head works collaboratively with division staff and relevant Library stakeholders to assess strengths and weaknesses in operations and services, and determine priorities and innovations that align with the academic mission of the university.

The Division Head has the overall responsibility for managing the interlibrary loan systems and the Automated Fulfillment Network (AFN) within the UC Berkeley Systemwide Integrated Library System (SILS), in close collaboration with Access Services and Library IT divisions. The position leads, supports, and coordinates the design and development of policies and workflows that enable RSD to locate, obtain, provide access to, and lend library and information resources in all formats, fields of study, and languages. Mindful of current trends related to resource sharing services, research, and collections at an academic research library, the Division Head will work in partnership with colleagues in the Library, across campus, and at other institutions to play a guiding role in initiatives that support the current and future resource sharing needs of faculty and students.
