Bryn Mawr College is seeking to hire an Educational Technology Specialist.
Educational Technology Specialists are members of a nine-member Educational and Scholarly Technology (EAST) team within Library and Information Technology Services (LITS) and report to the director of that team. EAST helps faculty, students, and staff integrate digital technologies into their teaching, learning and research and manages the Blended Learning, Digital Scholarship, Makerspace, and Digital Competencies programs. EAST collaborates deeply with other LITS divisions (including research and instructional support librarians, Special Collections, Client Engagement and Planning, and Web Services) and allied college departments, such as Career and Civic Engagement, Offices of Provost and Undergraduate Dean, Access Services, and academic programs or departments.
Educational technology specialists consult with faculty and staff to articulate pedagogical needs; find or design technologies, digital assignments, and learning materials that meet those needs; and provide faculty, staff, and students the training and support needed to adopt them. Along with EAST colleagues, they provide technical support for technologies used in teaching, learning, and research (such as Moodle, Zoom, and Domain of One’s Own) and help faculty, students, and staff develop digital competencies by organizing and facilitating workshops and events and creating, maintaining, and curating self-help resources (e.g., knowledge base articles, video tutorials, LinkedIn Learning playlists). They manage and contribute to LITS projects in their areas of expertise; mentor and supervise student employees, interns, and fellows; and help market LITS services, opportunities, and events to the Bryn Mawr College community.
We seek candidates with at least 1-2 years’ professional focus in educational technology OR an advanced academic degree, some experience, and strong interest in using digital technologies to support teaching, learning and research. You must be able to effectively collaborate with faculty or subject matter experts, technical staff, and learners; analyze their teaching, learning or research needs and find or design solutions; research and quickly learn new technologies as needed; communicate across diverse levels of technical proficiency; and teach others to use technology. Professional experience in a higher education context is desirable, but not required, as are knowledge, experience or interest in developing in any of the following: digital scholarship, application administration or development, web development, Maker skills and technologies (i.e., crafting, woodwork, laser-cutting, 3D printing), data visualization, 2D or 3D graphic design, Universal Design for Learning, document remediation/accessibility, or assistive technology.
