Reporting to the Associate University Librarian for Science, Social Science and Medicine, the Director of Research Support and Outreach Programs for the Center for Science and Social Science Information (CSSSI) provides strategic leadership for research support and outreach planning, communications, administration, and development for Yale's CSSSI and the Math Library.The Director provides strategic leadership in all aspects of CSSSI research support and outreach programs, relevant program budget administration, supervision of liaison librarians, academic department relationships, assessment, and marketing. The Director actively collaborates with colleagues from other Yale University Library (YUL) units to develop and maintain research support and outreach programs and services and serves as the CSSSI’s representative for research support to the Council of Research Services and Collections.Directs and advises liaison/research support librarians for the sciences and social sciences and works collaboratively with the CSSSI Director of Data, GIS, and Statistical Support Services and the CSSSI Director of Collection Management, Technology, and Technical and Access Services., Technology, and Technical and Access Services. The Director advises and works closely with the Chairs of the science and social science departments, the Deans and department heads of the Schools of Engineering, Forestry and Environmental Studies, and Management on library services and policies and is responsible for building strong partnerships with faculty, students, librarians, the directors of other  Yale Library research support services departments, the YUL Director of Communications, and the YUL Director of Development. The Director evaluates the research support and outreach services, policies, procedures, and facilities of the CSSSI and establishes and implements plans for continued development and improvement while coordinating these programs with those of other libraries on campus.Is a member of designated Yale Library committees charged with proposing and reviewing policies and programs.Is expected to demonstrate professional leadership and commitment in appropriate regional, national, and international professional organizations. The Director must demonstrate a strong commitment to agile, responsive, innovative public service programs in support of teaching and research in the sciences and social sciences.
