Description

The Digital Humanities Librarian works with faculty and students in the humanities, as well as librarians and software engineers in the Sheridan Libraries and Museums, to foster, shape and support digital approaches to humanistic research, teaching, and learning. This work includes the successful design and implementation of digital scholarship throughout its entire life cycle, including project design and funding, development, promotion, and preservation. The librarian must have a demonstrable interest in working across the humanities fields and the newer field of Digital Curation to develop digital scholarship and teaching that are cutting-edge, sustainable, and ethical in both disciplinary clusters. The librarian must have a professional background in the theories, methods, and materials of humanities research and teaching, especially as developed at JHU, such as Deconstruction, history of the book, and Black Feminist History. In addition to incubating new digital resources, the librarian will be involved in curating multiple existing digital humanities projects such as, currently, Black Beyond Data, the Black Press Research Collective, the Archaeology of Reading, Keywords for Black Louisiana, and Digital Library of Medieval Manuscripts.
