Job Summary:
The OER Publishing Coordinator assists the Director of Open Educational Resources by coordinating the day-to-day operations of open educational resources (OER) publishing activities on behalf of Mavs Open Press, overseeing administration of the UTA CARES Grant Program, and coordinating the efficient operation and assessment of other programs and projects for the OER Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Administers the UTA CARES Grant Program, including coordinating proposal reviews with the grant review committee; facilitating the MOU process and other grant-related communication; managing the grant budget and ensuring payments are issued; and ensuring project deliverables and reports are completed according to the project timeline. Coordinates grant-related assessment and other departmental data collection.
- Coordinates publishing workflow for all OER creation and modification projects through regular communication with project leads. Answers basic questions on copyright, fair use, and open licensing. Interacts with subject matter experts, including faculty, staff, and students from across campus; UTA Libraries’ staff and administration; and other community members.
- Disseminates and maintains information about the grant program and other departmental activities in collaboration with the Libraries’ Marketing and Communication Department through the Libraries’ websites, LibGuides, social media, and other platforms. Ensures the discoverability and preservation of OER published by Mavs Open Press by promoting publications through various channels.
- Keeps Director of OER informed of program operations and provides support for departmental activities and strategic planning. Helps to plan and coordinate departmental events and provides support for workshops, training, and consultations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Two (2) years of experience providing professional administration and coordination of a program/project and/or editorial experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in public administration, business management, publishing, or closely related degree
- One (1) year of experience in publishing and/or overseeing print or electronic communication
- Experience with using Pressbooks or WordPress, H5P, Canvas, or other open-source publishing and learning technologies
- Experience with developing, managing, championing, and/or disseminating OER
- Knowledge of trends in open education and open publishing
- Knowledge of copyright law and public/open copyright options (including Creative Commons licenses)
- Knowledge of universal design and/or common accessibility barriers and experience evaluating and addressing them
