The ArchivesSpace Project Manager will manage a multi-year project to migrate archival description from the Archivists’ Toolkit software, which is no longer supported, to ArchivesSpace. Archivists’ Toolkit is currently in use by the University of Georgia’s Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library and Russell Library for Political Research and Studies. The goal of the project is a single system for the Hargrett and Russell libraries to use for managing archival description, accession data, and authority records, and for providing access to description to our patrons.

Migrating to ArchivesSpace will require the successful candidate to work with library faculty and staff to merge Hargrett and Russell descriptive practices and finding aid websites. The ArchivesSpace Project Manager will also coordinate significant data cleanup. The ArchivesSpace Project Librarian/Archivist reports to the Head of Digital Stewardship and works closely with relevant personnel in the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, Russell Library for Political Research and Studies, and the Library Technology Support Group.

The position requires a well-organized and engaged individual who excels at communication and team building and has familiarity with archival description. This is an entry level position and we welcome new and recent graduate applicants. The successful candidate will be supported to learn the technical skills required on the job.
