We’re looking for an experienced library/archive/museum metadata specialist to join a cross-divisional initiative connecting collections data to enable new routes of exploration and discovery. Partnering with librarians, archivists, d.a.m.s. managers, registrars, data scientists, and digital experience colleagues to design and implement metadata models, mappings, and transformation workflows to enhance and align metadata, as well as ensure standards-based, responsible and interoperable use of cultural heritage data, including in AI applications. The ideal candidate is expansively curious, respectful of domain expertise and varying professional principles, a creative thinker, and a clear communicator.

The role requires both expertise in library and archival metadata and hands-on technical skill in data preparation, transformation and quality assurance. Requires comprehensive and expert knowledge of library and archival metadata standards and frameworks, including: MARC; Dublin Core; MODS; EAD; METS; DACS; IIIF; RDF.  Uses tools and programming languages such as OpenRefine, MARCEdit, XSLT, Python and XML/JSON-based workflows. Familiarity with metadata harvesting, exchange and interoperability protocols such as OAI-PMH and linked data practices that support data reuse and discovery. Understanding of digital collections management systems, repositories and digitization workflows and their integration with enterprise data environments. Ability to collaborate with IT specialists, data scientists, archivists and catalogers to ensure technical and semantic alignment across systems and to translate metadata requirements into implementable solutions. Knowledge of quality assurance methods for evaluating metadata accuracy and consistency and applying corrective actions. Strong organizational skills and the ability to document complex workflows clearly and effectively for institutional sustainability.
