UT Libraries seeks a Metadata Analyst (Assistant Librarian) to standardize controlled access vocabulary for the “Texas Archival Resources Online (TARO) Consortium to the 21st Century Project.”

Texas Archival Resources Online (TARO) is the online statewide consortium for archival finding aids. TARO (www.legacy.lib.utexas.edu/taro) has not been updated since its debut in 1999, and although it still functions and is heavily used, it is due for significant updates. The University of Texas Libraries seek a collaborative, detail-oriented, and highly motivated Metadata Analyst to support improvement of TARO’s new interface by using open source tools to map, transform, and enhance controlled access vocabulary terms. The ideal candidate will have experience with cultural heritage metadata, working knowledge of archival practice and descriptive tools, and excellent communication skills to interface with the TARO Steering Committee and TARO stakeholders.

This 1-year term-limited position will report to the Head of Preservation and Digital Stewardship. It is funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Remote applicants are welcome to apply.
