Under minimal supervision, perform the most complex technical work associated with a wide variety of analytical data and produce routine, single data sources’ information requests. The Digital Asset Coordinator will be an essential contributor to and team member of the Hoover Library & Archives’ (HILA) Digital First/Virtual Library initiative.
Under the general guidance of the Systems Infrastructure Manager, this position supports the management and maintenance of digital assets in the HILA digital repository systems (i.e., LAM collections management systems, digital asset management systems, digital preservation systems, etc.) to facilitate the preservation and enduring access to special collections resources, in a variety of formats, related to twentieth century history in a variety of languages.
- Work under consultative or self-initiated direction to assess and produce relevant, standard, or custom information (reports, charts, graphs and tables) from structured data sources by querying data repositories and generating the associated information. Distribute and disseminate reports to applicable agencies, researchers, management and other internal end-users.
- Devise methods for identifying data patterns, trends in available information sources using a variety of qualitative and quantitative techniques. Determine and recommend additional data collection and reporting requirements.
- Design and customize reports based upon data in the database.
- Create non-routine databases and their related information summary; develop algorithms and statistical model; and perform statistical analyses appropriate to complex data and reporting requirements.
- Serve as a resource for non-routine inquiries such as requests for statistics or surveys.
- Lead the implementation of data standards and common data elements for data collection.
- Collaborate with technical staff to standardize and systemize routine reports, dashboards, and metrics.
- May test prototype software and participate in approval and release process for new software.
ADDITIONAL CORE DUTIES*:
- Assists with the development and documentation of procedures and workflows, creates and establishes standards, best practices and advancement around digital content re-use and digital asset management.
- Diagnose and resolve end-user problems; respond to escalated issues from clients, provide technical guidance and training, supporting internal and external system users and other support teams.
- Research, recommend and implement hardware and software purchases and configurations to meet client needs and ensure compatibility with university systems and architecture.
- Work on projects requiring expertise and creativity in analysis and deployment of technology.
- May supervise day-to-day work of library, information technology, and/or entry level information analysis specialists, student and/or temporary workers, including scheduling, assigning, and prioritizing workloads, setting appropriate deadlines, reviewing work for quality and timeliness, and providing performance review input
- May perform routine server administration

Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience required. Experience in a quantitative discipline such as economics, finance, statistics, engineering, or information science. Advanced degree preferred.
Relevant experience may include: repository management, digital reformatting for preservation and access, digital collection development, or digital preservation and access.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge and experience using and applying analytical software, database management system software, database reporting software, database user interface and query software, and data mining software.
- Expert ability to collect data using a variety of methods, such as data mining and hardcopy or electronic documentation study, to improve or expand databases.
- Basic statistical ability.
- Strong listening, verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple activities in a deadline-oriented environment; highly organized, flexible and rigorous attention to detail.
- Ability to use logic to calculate data; efficiently construct a database or scrutinize the form of a question.
- Ability to work with data of varying levels of quality and validity.
- Demonstrated ability to produce data in a clear and understandable manner meeting user requirements.
- Ability to work effectively with multiple internal and external customers.
- Ability to take a leadership role on projects and with users/clients.
Desired/Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Broad knowledge of digital repository functions, services, and requirements.
- Experience with or ability to learn the following applications/platforms: Samvera digital repository framework, AtoM, DSpace, Islandora, Archivematica, ArchivesSpace.
- Experience creating, editing, and executing scripted data transformations in XML and JSON.
- Demonstrated Relational Database Management Systems skills; ability to design and modify database schema.
- Demonstrated experience in running quarantine check, checksum, and format validation with expertise with digital preservation packaging schemes and versioning conventions (e.g. BagsIt, OCFL, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience with data migration, ingestion, curation, and mapping.
- Familiarity with a wide range of digital file formats, digitization, and digital reformatting practices.
- Working knowledge of digital preservation standards, web content management systems and best practices.
- Interest and ability to develop and apply strategies, best practices, standards, and technologies to support discovery, access, and preservation of digital collections.
Certifications and Licenses:
· Constantly sit, perform desk-based computer tasks.
· Frequently twist/bend/stoop/squat, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
· Occasionally stand/walk, reach/work above shoulders, writing by hand, kneel/crawl, climb (ladders, scaffolds, or other).
· Rarely use a telephone, operate hand controls.
· Must be able to push and maneuver a fully-loaded cart weighing up to 650 pounds that requires an initial push force up to 50 pounds. Ability to lift 40 pound boxes or bundles.
